10. Tie-Breakers
10.1 In the event that two or more teams have the same win/ loss record (or a number of points) at the conclusion of the round-robin or cross-over matches, the higher placed team will be decided by applying the following WFDF Ranking Criteria and Tie Breakers rules:
10.2 After round-robin pool play, rank all teams in each pool by the number of games won. If teams are tied, break that tie using the ranking criteria.
10.3 Each ranking criterion is used to rank all of the tied teams, not just to determine the highest-ranked team.
10.4 If, after the application of a ranking criterion, all of the teams remain tied, go to the next criterion.
10.5 If not all teams remain tied, but one or more subgroups of the teams remain tied, separate these subgroups from the ranking. Each subgroup is then to be ranked separately, starting with the first ranking criterion.
10.6 Ranking criteria, in order:
10.6.1 The number of games won, counting only games between the teams that are tied.
10.6.2 Fewest games forfeited.
10.6.3 Goal difference, counting only games between the teams that are tied.
10.6.4 Goal difference, counting games against all common opponents.
10.6.5 Goals scored per game, counting only games between the teams that are tied.
10.6.6 Goals scored per game, counting games against all common opponents.
10.6.7 Each team nominates one player to throw one disc from behind the goal line to the far brick point on a regulation playing field. Throwing order is determined randomly, by disc toss or otherwise. Teams are ranked in order by the distance from the resting place of each disc to the brick point, from closest to furthest
Hat tournaments are common on the Ultimate scene. They are tournaments where players join individually rather than as a team. The tournament organisers form teams by randomly taking the names of the participants from a "hat". Teams are pulled out of a 'hat' but are balanced so that there is a range of players from beginners just starting to play through to experienced Ultimate players.
Hat tournaments have a strong emphasis on having fun and meeting other players. Players of all levels take part in such events from world-class players to complete beginners. Hat tournaments often have a theme and the Witch's Hat is no different, this event falls on the last weekend of October giving a Halloween theme for participants.
The Witch's Hat event was created and originally conducted by Rusty Slaughter and Waylon Parker and has continued annually since 2004.
The WA State Indoor Championships are held on Full-sized basketball courts, with lots of space for running, tactics, blades, every throw you would/wouldn't think to do with the rain and wind outside in winter, in a 3M/2F gender format. This event will be hosted by WA Ultimate events team.
About
The WA State Indoor Championships is a mixed gender indoor tournament held annually. In most cases the lateest edition of the official WFDF rules are in play with the following modifications. This format will provide a faster paced game, quality playing time for each game and promote the unique aspects of Indoor Ultimate.

Gameplay
For each game, a disc toss will determine who starts on Offense/Defense and the starting end. A pull is used to start each point. There is a maximum of 30 seconds allowed between points, before the next pull must be thrown.
Games must start and finish at their scheduled times, it is etiquette to clear the court as soon as possible at the conclusion of your game to allow for a streamline schedule and all games can run uninterrupted.
Field of Play
The field area is the area inside the perimeter of the court, as defined by the pre-existing lines of the basketball court. The lines, walls and nets around the playing field are considered to be out of bounds. If a disc makes contact with any walls or nets around the playing field while it is not in anyone’s possession, it is a turnover and the defending team assumes possession at a point closest to where the contact was made. The endzone is marked by the ‘netball court dome’.
Scoring
Gender Ratio
All mixed divisions at WAFDA State Events will be played using the prescribed ratio rule (Ratio Rule A) to determine gender choice.
Each team may only play with:
1. Three (3) male players and two (2) female players, or three (3) female players and two (2) male players.
The prescribed ratio rule features an equal representation of male and female players on the field throughout the game.
A7.2. Ratio Rule A (“prescribed ratio” rule):
A7.2.1. At the start of the game, after the first disc flip, an additional disc flip happens with the winner selecting the gender ratio for the first point. For the second and third points the ratio must be the reverse of the first point. For the fourth and fifth points the ratio must be same as the first point. This pattern of alternating the ratio every two points repeats until the end of the game (half time has no impact on the pattern).
Substitutions
The Pull
Turnovers
A turnover occurs when:
Stall Count
The stall count goes from 1 to 7. A player is stalled when the defender says the S in "seven". If there is a contested stall, play resumes with the stall count at 5 ("stalling 5"). All stall counts, initiated or re-initiated, begin with the word "stalling".
Restarting Play
In general, all players are encouraged to restart play as quickly as possible. When safety is a concern (e.g. injured player on field, or if a sharp or hard object presents a threat), restarting play takes a back seat, but in all other situations, it is the responsibility of both teams to put the disc into play. Here are some basic guidelines:
Safety
Players:
Obstacles
Some indoor recreation facilities have stationary basketball hoops, not to mention ceilings and walls. Unfortunately we have to overcome these obstacles and play around them. If the disc touches any of these obstacles it results in a turnover, even if the flight of the disc is not affected. The disc will be taken from the closest in-bounds position (excluding end zones) where the interference happened.
Ladder Points
Teams shall be awarded Ladder Points as per the following structure:
• Win – Two (2) points
• Loss – Zero (0) points
Tournament Ladder
The Tournament Ladder will rank teams based on the following:
• Ladder Points
• Points For minus Points Against
• Points For
• Head to head
• Disc Flip
