The WA Flying Disc Association is committed to promoting the growth of disc sports, which includes teaching children through schools and other programs. The WAFDA has been working with the Australian Sports Commission to run Ultimate / Flying Disc programs through the ASC's Active After School Communities program, which aims to improve the health and well-being of primary school aged children. These classes are predominantly in the Perth metropolitan area, but with assistance from the ASC we are now looking to expand into the Peel, South West, and Kimberley regions in 2008. For more information about this program, please contact the Australian Sports Commission AASC contact for WA (see the ASC page linked above) There are also programs for in-school demonstrations, professional development of teachers, after-school junior clinics, and during 2008 we hope to start our first Ultimate leagues aimed specifically at younger players. All of our Ultimate coaches have passed the Australian Sports Commission's CCTP (Community Coaching Training Program) course, and also have current Working With Children clearance. Our senior coaches also have NCAS Level One certification as Ultimate Coaches, as certified by the Australian Sports Commission's National Coaching Accreditation Scheme.
