What?Ultimate is a fast, free-flowing game played world-wide, combining elements of netball, soccer, grid-iron and touch footy. The basic aim is for the team with the disc to pass it up the field to others on their team and catch it in the end zone. At the same time the defensive team is trying to intercept it or knock it down. If they succeed, they get possession of the disc and attempt to score in their end zone. Why?Ultimate is an incredibly social and friendly sport, played by a range of people of differing ages and experience. It's cheap - all you need is some friends, some grass and a disc. And best of all its loads of fun! Where?Perth Ultimate League is played year around on Wednesday nights at UWA Sports Park off McGillivray Ave, Mt Claremont. Pick-up can be played at the University of Western Australia , Curtin University , and Murdoch University . Ultimate is also played in some regional WA areas, including Karratha and Broome. Congratulations to Lachlan Gregory and Peter Eley on their selection to the Australia under 19 Open team for the World Ultimate Championships 2008.
The World Championships will be held in Vancouver, Canada from 2 - 9 August 2008. Lachlan and Pete join John Damiani (Mixed) and Paul Denyer (Open) as WA-based players selected to represent Australia at the coming World Championships. This is an excellent achievement.
