We all want to win..but... - 2007/09/20 10:21
The Social Ultimate League has been a tremendous success and WAFDA should be congratulated. And naturally we all go out win, even in the Social League. But I'm a little concerned that we are not giving Ultimate newbies a decent chance to learn the game.
Over the last couple of weeks newbies on my team, the Ultimatums, have been hand blocked and poached. Now I know a hand block is very satisfying, but on a beginner?! And when I say beginner here I mean first and second game players!!!! What does that teach them? And poaching is the same...what value in teaching beginners a bad habit for even experienced players.
Now I would not like to see WAFDA establish seperate rules for SUL, so maybe team captains could ask their players, in the spirit of the game, to give newbies at least a chance to get the throw off and resist the poaching temptation.
