PUL, SUL & Clubs - 2008/05/25 20:38 At the AGM last week there were many discussions than eventually led to the topic of Club development in WA. My personal oppinion is that the creation and support of Clubs is the only way Ultimate is going to grow substantially in WA. WAFDA simply does not have the wo/manpower to undertake all of the activities needed to recruit, develop, train, coach and grow the players needed in order to see the Sport grow.

Most (though not all) of the discussion around Club formation was positive. I believe the first place to start with Clubs is to make PUL a Clubs only event. This should indirectly address the issue of a more competitive PUL, as defined clubs are more likely to have a drive and a desire to recruit, compete and win.

SUL should be one of the competitions that is open to anyone, regardless of membership in a club or not. The benefit of belonging to a Club, however, is that you can play in PUL which should be a higher level of play and generally better Ultimate.
