 2010 World Ultimate Club Championships (Prague) - 2008/10/20 11:13 Hi All,

2010 WUCC will be hosted by Prague and it's time WA Ultimate started thinking about whether they'd like to field a team at these championships and it what divisions. There has been a fair amount of interest already from other ultimate centres and there is talk that qualifications would occur in late 2009. At the moment it looks like three teams in each division may be accepted.

Men's - Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney
Women's - Wildcard, Southside, Box????
Mixed - Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle.

Sublime and Renegades representated WA at the last championships in Perth in the mixed division. So it would be great to have WA represented at these championships.

As a semi-experienced women's player I would love an opportunity to help get a WA team off the ground and really push for a spot at WUCC 2010. I think entering a mixed team is the way to go?!!!

Who else is keen?

Denyer is right...we need to get onto this right now and get our shite together!!

If there are qualifiers in 2009 (i.e. within the next 12 months)then we need to establish a base of interested players and start playing & training together as a core group.

In my view, the road to a mixed team for WUCC begins with AUC this coming April. So can I encourage all players interested in 2010, experienced or not, get on board, train hard and try out for Nationals (in Perth, April 2009) and also factor in Mixed Nats 2009. (It's pretty bad that WA don't often send a team to this national event, especially when we have potentially 4 -6 teams (across mens and womens divisions)trying for spots in April Nationals..it means we have lots of players!)

If we get onto this I think we've got a good chance of making top 3 for mixed.
