Club Grants - 2006/12/28 15:56 Posted on aus.sport.frisbee regarding club grants.

Hey all,

I thought I might start some discusiion for people thart might be interested in applying for club grants.

This year Flinders Uni has been successful in getting nearly $8000 in grants from the state and federal government.

We applied through the state Department for Recreation and Sport, SA for just over $4500 to set up and run a coaching training program (using the AFDA course) and a social league here at the uni,
specifically to target the recruitment of more women into the sport.

We have money for line marking equipment, scoreboards, cones, shade tents, coaching accreditation, first aid courses, discs, first aid kits and more.

Most states have a department like this which offer similar grants every 6 months. There is plenty of money out there for people intrested in making Australia more healthy.

Just google "department of recreation and sport" and you'll get plenty of entries with links to sites with more info.

We also applied for a federal government grant under the "Volunteer Small Equipment Grants" which rewards volunteers for their efforts. This is pretty much money for enjoying what you do more, with little
restriction.

We successfully got over $3000 for a laptop computer with video editing software and a digital video camera.

You can find this grant here:

For both grants I had recommendations from our sports association, the state association (SAFDA) president, and the AFDA CEO (pottsy) all of whom were more than happy to provide a few positive words about what we
were doing.

For the most part it's simply a matter of dotting the 'i's and crossing the 't's. Give them everything they ask for and it's pretty straight forward.

Anyway, hope this has helped. Send me a line if you want to ask me anything or are thinking about applying yourself.

Feel free to add your own insight into applying for grants from your experiences.
