Change to WA Ultimate Events
The WAFDA has recently reviewed how state tournaments are run and have implemented a new structure that will take effect immediately.
As our events are getting bigger, the WAFDA need to prioritise certain aspects of tournaments to decrease the burden on those running these events whilst ensuring critical tasks are still carried out and quality of competition for our members is at a high standard. To this end it has been decided that for Western Regionals and Phoenix Has Risen:
- Catering will now be an opt-in item and will only be included if there are volunteers to arrange food; and
- Temporary line marking will now only be included if there are pre-arranged volunteers available to set this up.
Whilst the WA Ultimate employees currently provide significant assistance to members in the organisation of these high-standard competitions, running these events is outside the scope of their roles and hours of employment. For these key WAFDA events our staff will continue to provide administrative support and handle promotion, scheduling and payments but without volunteers stepping up to assist both in the organisation and running of these events WAFDA will need to continue to revise tournament procedures and inclusions and make the necessary adjustments.
